Although most of their property had been confiscated by the Indonesians, Grace's father, Ernst Clement Neijndorff, was able to sell one of their Surabaya homes. He used the money to purchase a house in the Vogelwijk of Den Haag.  Between it and the house next door, the Neijndorffs and their cousins were able to live close together.  Ernst and Elly lived on the first floor; Grace, Eddy, and Renata lived on the second floor, and an aunt and cousin lived on the third floor.  Hans and Hertha and their children, Mark, Luuk, and Charmaine lived next door, as did Frank.
